She’s glad because I’ve been making her work a lot lately (and I’ve tricked her into thinking she’ll be getting time off at the beach). Since the beginning of summer, I’ve been averaging 3 or 4 fresh fruit smoothies a week. My current favorite is this Pineapple Raspberry Smoothie with Omega-3s. I recently discovered Camelina oil, which is sometimes called ‘wild’ or ‘false’ flax and has been used in Europe for thousands of years. It’s known for its high content of omega-3 fatty acids as well as other vitamins and antioxidants. I’ve either been putting a spoonful of this or ground up flax seeds in my smoothies to make them super healthy.
This recipe makes 2 smoothies. See my post on Kefir and Red Berry Smoothies for a note on frozen bananas.
1/2 cup yogurt
1 frozen banana
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
1/3 cup frozen raspberries
A spoonful of Camelina or Flaxseed oil (or ground flax seeds)
1. Mix all ingredients in a blender (add just enough orange juice to make the mixture somewhat liquid).
